Cell Phone AlertsWould you like to be notified when email comes in? How about just from a specific address? Would you like to be notified right on your existing cell phone as soon as it comes in? Well now you can. The email alert function will allow you to be notified when any email comes in to a specific address and allows you to have a copy sent to any device capable of receiving a test message including your cell phone. If you do not want to be bothered by ALL of your email, but are waiting for a specific email from one address then you can specify that one address and be notified whenever anything from that address comes in.Cell Phone Carrier Email Alert Addresses Using the MyPTSMail Web Configurator, you, as the account holder will be able to forward all messages or only messages from specified email addresses. As a message comes into your regular myptsmail account a copy of the message will automatically be forwarded to the appropriate location you have specified. This includes showing any attachment names although you will not be able to actually view the attachment itself. As the account holder log into webconfig.cgi Go to the Configuration Files Page. Click Email Alerts. Input the originating email address (if you want all emails you can enter all). Type the tilda character ~ located to the left of the numeral 1, above the letter Q on your keyboard. Type the address the message is going to normally (ie your myptsmail email address). Type the tilda character. Enter the alert email address or cell phone address where you want the alert to be sent. When entering a cell phone address do not enter any parentheses ( or ) or dashes -. The cell phone text address is simply the cell phone 10 digit number followed by the @ symbol, followed by the gateway address of your carrier. For example: Verizon uses vtext.com and Cingular uses mobile.mycingular.com so a cell phone address for the phone number (123) 456-7890 would be entered as 1234567890@vtext.com or 1234567890@mobile.mycingular.com. You should be able to get the gateway address from your current service provider, or a list of many of the more common carriers can be found here at the cell_phone_gateways page. If your particular carrier service format is not shown here simply text a message to your computer from your cell phone and when you receive it look at the from address on the message. That from address will be your cell phone address you need to enter in the third field of the command line. Login Links |
