The word of the day listening

Definition

Action of the verb to listen

It appears that Congress is not listening to the American people.  Poll after poll shows that the majority of Americans don’t want this health care bill.  Yet, it appears that they are determined to ram this bill through.  As the President said, that is what elections are for.  And come November this will be corrected.

The word of the day underhanded

Definition

dishonest and sneaky; done in a secret or sly manner

It appears that Congress is going to pass the health care bill despite the fact that we the people don’t want it.  They are looking to use “Deem and Pass” to hide who is voting for this bill.  As a lifelong Democrat, I have lost all respect for the Democratic party.  The party has been hijacked by the Far Left and is out of touch with the public.  I am starting to understand the Tea Party movement more and more.

Definition

To cast a vote, to use ones right to take a stand on the choices offered in the election.

Congress is trying to pass the health care legislation this week.  They believe they will have the votes.  If it passes, come November, they will see the power of voting.  Poll after Poll shows the majority of Americans don’t want this bill, yet they seem determined to push their own agenda, rather than listening to those who voted them in.

The word of the day time

Definition

The inevitable passing of events from future to present then past.

Does it seem lately that you are short of time to accomplish everything you set out to do?  In our fast paced world we don’t seem to have enough time.  Maybe we are just trying to do to much.  Or we feel we aren’t getting enough done.  Maybe, we just need to slow down and decide whether we need to do everything  we have on our list.  If we don’t take the time do for ourselves we might be missing the best use of our time.

The word of the day value

Definition

The quality (positive or negative) that renders something desirable or valuable

What has happened to the values in this country?  What we considered important not that long are not in vogue now.  We are more rude, self centered and out for ourselves.  We are not not as respectful to each other, hard work is less important, and we seem to feel entitled to what we want.  We are going in the wrong direction.  We need to look at where we are going and decide if this is the path we want to be on.

As I mentioned before I am going to run a 5K race with my family in a few months.  It was nice this weekend and we did a family run.  My husband, sister and my daughter were all out there.  They let me set the pace and to my surprise I didn’t have any trouble with the distance.  I was apprehensive about it, but it turned out to be nothing.  A lot of that was the support from my family.  Knowing that I can cover the distance I will now work on improving my performance.  This also reminds me how close we are as a family and how much family support in any endeavor makes a difference.

The word of the day lusk

Definition

a lazy or slothful person

I saw this word on a news show the other day and I had to look it up.  It is amazing how many words in the English language describe lazy people.  It seems as though there are so many lazy people we keep coming up with different ways to describe people with a lack of work ethic or those who want something for nothing.  It appears that maybe the reason for this is that as a society we indirectly encourage it.

Reconciliation

The word of the day Reconciliation

Definition

Reconciliation is a legislative process in the United States Senate intended to allow consideration of a contentious budget bill without the threat of filibuster. Introduced in 1974, reconciliation limits debate and amendment, and therefore favors the majority party. Reconciliation also exists in the United States House of Representatives, but because the House regularly passes rules that constrain debate and amendment, the process has had a less significant impact on that body.

There is talk that the health care with the so called “Nuclear Option”. This is a blatant attempt to circumvent the opposition to this bill by the American people. Poll after Poll shows the American people do not not want this. At a time when the government is increasing the debt at an alarming rate, it appears the only option for us is to vote these irresponsible people out of office in November.
