What is MyPTSMail?

MyPTSMail is a flexible, easy to use, yet feature rich filtered email/webmail service. MyPTSMail offers a way for users to consolidate email accounts into one place(aol, yahoo, gmail, etc.), use POP and Imap capable email clients, easily retrieve rejected messages, set up cellular alerts, have there own personal blog or wiki, communicate with other users on various issues in the community forum and more! What does this mean to you? This means you can have email just about anywhere, on just about any device, without the constant harassment and complication associated spam and viruses, any way you like it.

Will MyPTSMail work with my exisitng email client?

Yes, it will! From Outlook, Outlook Express to Eudora, MyPTSMail will work with almost any POP or Imap enabled client.

Do I have to manage my own filter settings?

No, you will not have to manage your own settings. We setup, constantly review and update virus definitions and spam tests used to protect you from spam and viruses. If you have a problem with a certain type of spam, just inform us by email and we will address it in the filter settings. myptsmail@myptsmail.com

What kind of Tests are used in MyPTSMail to keep me safe?

PTSMail Utilities, the filter that we have developed and use for MyPTSMail, is extremely vast with well over 50 tests. Listing and explaining all of its filtereing capabilities is a rather difficult task so here are just a few basic tests used to protect you:

- blacklist lookup: this tries to match the domain of incoming messages against several different blacklists. If a match is found, the message is rejected.

- to and from restriction: this rejects all spam messages that use the technique of having the from address and the to address the same.

- keyword restriction: this test scans the body and header of messages against a list of offensive/spam words. if a match is found the message is rejected. this is one of the most extensive test.

- maximum size limit: this test rejects messages that are larger than the designated size limit.

- attatchment scan: this scans attatchments for known malicious code executeables like trojan horses and worms. also checks for spam keywords.

- greylisting: this rejects messages that come from a domain that you have never recieved messages from in the past. Legit messages are resent and after a few times, are allowed past the filter.

How do I retrieve a message i think was rejected, set an email alert or block a particular address?

The "retrieve message, set email alerts, & allow/deny address" can all be found on one menu. This menu can be found on the home page under the links "Retrieve Rejected Message, Set Email Alert, Allow/Deny Address". Simply log in using your MyPTSMail Id and Password. Then choose which of the 3 functions you wish to do. There will soon be directions there to guide you.

What is a Blog?

A "blog", originally "web log", is typically an online diary or a web based personal chronological log of thoughts published on a Web page. Blogs however, can be used for things other than diaries such as bulletin boards, news pages, or anything informative. Here is more info on blogs.
