Sodium in nutrition
In nutritional terms sodium, as an electrolyte , is present in all body cells. Its most important function is to regulate the balance of water inside and outside cells. Sodium plays a role in maintaining normal blood pressure. Sodium Regulates the body’s acid balance. Sodium also aids muscle contraction and nerve transmission.
Some foods that provide sodium include beef, pickles, milk, clams,salted nuts, snack foods and ham.
