What is IMAP

MAP stands for Internet Message Access Protocol. IMAP is a protocol for accessing electronic mail messages on a mail server. A client email program such as Outlook can access remote messages as if they were local. IMAP was originally developed in 1986 at Stanford University.

You can use IMAP to access a MyPTSMail account from your home computer, laptop or work station.
